Wine Style:

This wine is named Zarzuela-the Spanish word for 'operetta' – a romantic musical. Just as many voices and instruments come together to form the musical Zarzuela, this wine is a blend of many grape varietals, aged in an interesting blend of oak barrels. Each varietal was aged separately in small oak barrels before being masterfully blended to showcase the best attributes of each of the grape types.

Flavor Profile:

With the big, rich Tempranillo as a backbone, the 2002 Zarzuela is a hearty wine. Augmenting the fruit of the Tempranillo is the magical fruit of the Touriga Nacional, which adds a ripe blackberry, currant and a touch of anise. The Souzao serves a bridge between the fruit of the Touriga Nacional and the depth of the Tempranillo. The tannins are rich and round, making this a wine that can age well for many years, but which is amazingly approachable now.
